From June 3. till 9., 2024, some elected fellows of the charitable church funds of Germany undertook a journey to the Ecumenical Institute in Bossey by the World Council of Churches.
Among the participants there were two representatives of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, who through support of the “Academic Initiative” Foundation, study in Leipzig and Eichstaett, respectively – priest Maksym Boichura and Kostiantyn Mykhanchuk. Several times the participants of the journey were in Geneva, where they visited the office of the World Council of Churches, the Chambesy Orthodox Center, as well as the office of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights.
In several meetings, special attention was paid to the issues related to the difficult situation in which the Ukrainian Orthodox Church currently exists. In his report, Fr. Maksym Boichura spoke about the relevance for the current Orthodoxy of the Byzantine tradition of the heritage of the First Ecumenical Council (325), and Kostiantyn Mykhanchuk spoke about interchurch conflicts in Ukraine and the prospects for their resolving.
