On May 27, 2024, the presentation of the project “SAFEGUARDING. Child safety in the church environment” took place in the Kyiv art gallery “Lavra”. This project was created by the “Child Dignity Center”, which exists at the Ukrainian Catholic University. The project unites experts on the safeguarding of minors from the Catholic Church from six Eastern European countries: Ukraine, Poland, Slovakia, the Czech Republic, Croatia and Hungary.

As part of the project presentation, one could view the installation “Recognize. React”. This is an exhibition of dozens of t-shirts on which the artist Ulyana Krekhovets using the sketch technique symbolically depicted the comfortable or uncomfortable existence of a child in the family and in the wider society.

One of the components of the project is an educational online course of the same title for clergy, consecrated persons and lay people, which can be completed in a few hours with a confirming certificate. The charitable foundation “Academic Initiative”, which actively cooperates with religious communities of Ukraine in its humanitarian projects, plans to involve its partners in taking this course in order to spread knowledge about the safeguarding and protection of children and disabled persons from possible injuries and violence.
