On April 8., 2024, a delegation of the Bishops’ Conference of Germany visited the Kyiv Theological Academy on the territory of the Golosiyiv Monastery. It had a meeting with Metropolitan of Nizhyn and Pryluky Kliment, a permanent member of the Holy Synod and Chairman of the Educational Committee of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church. Sergii Bortnyk also took part in the meeting.
The delegation of German Catholics was led by Bertram Meier, Bishop of Augsburg and Chairman of the “World Church” Commission. The delegation also included Joerg Luer, Chairman of the “Justice and Peace” Commission and Ulrich Poener, Director of the Department of International Church Affairs and Migration of the mentioned Conference.
The parties discussed the current situation around the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, challenges and prospects. Metropolitan Clement answered the questions of the guests. Sergii Bortnyk told about the current projects that the “Academic Initiative” foundation has in the sphere of humanitarian aid and informational activity. The meeting was held in an atmosphere of mutual understanding and mutual respect.
