On November 30, 2023, the “Oikumene, Mission, Development Conference” (KÖME) of the Evangelical Church of Germany held a video conference for heads and representatives of the departments of the land churches for inter-church relations. The main theme of this meeting was “Violence and war in Europe – what can the Churches do?”
At the invitation of the organizers of the event, Sergii Bortnyk spoke to the participants. In his report “On the current church situation in Ukraine” he spoke about the current situation in the religious environment of Ukraine, its origins, the current challenges to religious freedom and the prospects for church reconciliation in the Ukrainian Orthodoxy.
