New section on our website – “Article reviews”

On October 1, 2025, in a newly launched section of our website called “Article reviews,” we begin publishing new materials that can significantly deepen the level of theological competence of contemporary Orthodox believers committed to their intellectual self-improvement.

The authors of the texts studied are theologians who have had a great impact on the present-day theology of the Orthodox Church. For example, Pantelis Kalaitzidis, Nikolaos Asproulis, Paul Ladouceur, Brandon Gallaher, Norman Russell, Paul L. Gavrilyuk, Tamara Grdzelidze, Vasilios N. Makrides, and others.

The main topics of the reviewed articles are:

– the phenomenon of religious nationalism;

– ecumenical activity of the Orthodox Church;

– Orthodox thought in the context of globalization;

– main ideas of neo-patristic theology of the 20th century.

These are primarily reviews of the texts originally written in English, while the reviews themselves are available exclusively on the Ukrainian version of the website.

The first text is a review by archpriest Andrii Shymanovych of an article by Dr. Pantelis Kalaitzidis, the Director of the Volos Academy for Theological Studies (Greece). In his 2013 research, the renowned Greek theologian outlined several ideas for developing fundamentally new approaches to the Church’s self-awareness within the context of globalization processes in the early 21st century.

Instead of the ecclesiological paradigms of the past – local, imperial, and national – he proposes a new model, namely the paradigm of globalization.
