On September 12, 2023, “Regional Religious Actors Consultation” was held in Krakow. It was organized by the “Network for Religious and Traditional Peacemakers” and the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Finland. The organizers gathered participants from two difficult regions of Europe – Ukraine and Western Balkans (Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia, Montenegro, North Macedonia).
On the invitation of the organizers, Sergii Bortnyk, the Head of the Foundation “Academic initiative”, took part in the consultation. Consultations took place under the conditions of confidentiality – without video recordings, photos, etc. The most constructive impulse of the consultation was the idea of adopting the experience of the Balkan countries in the coexistence of religious communities during and after the war for the situation in Ukraine, where religious and ethnic factors play a similarly important role.
