Activities of our Foundation since the beginning of the war: humanitarian aid

On February 24, 2022, the war of the Russian Federation against Ukraine began. It has significantly changed the activities of our Foundation, namely added a component of assistance to war victims. With the help of our partners – Church organizations of the West, we were able to actively get involved in helping the victims.

The first project was to help refugees affected by the war, as well as large families and the elderly. This project was supported by the Archdiocese of Paderborn (Roman Catholic Church in Germany). We were able to provide targeted financial assistance to 100 people – among them victims from Mariupol, Bucha, Irpen, Okhtyrka, etc.

Another project was to help the All-Ukrainian charity organization “Down Syndrome”. This project was supported by the German foundation “Renovabis”. In this way we were able to financially support 19 employees of this organization and more than 200 families that have children with Down syndrome.

In addition to these projects that are already completed, we continue the project of assistance through Orthodox parishes in Kyiv and Kyiv region to displaced persons, victims and needy. Our assistants are ten priests who systematize information and help with food and medicine to their parishioners and residents. It is estimated that up to 1,000 people will receive assistance under this project, also supported by “Renovabis” Foundation.

We were also able to help those in need through smaller donations from both Сhurches and individuals. Nowadays the budget of the provided assistance exceeds 75.000 US dollars. We continue to look for potential donors for further humanitarian assistance to the victims of the Russian-Ukrainian war. Donations are possible in Ukrainian hryvnas, Euros and US dollars.
